Get Fired Up as the Stockton Heat play the San Diego Gulls, putting their five-game point streak on the line as the team embarks on a season-long, seven-game road swing.  Stockton just came back from playing six games on the road, posting a 3-2-0-1 record, but now have the targets placed on their back as they took over as the Pacific Division’s number one team with their win over Tucson last Saturday.

It’s been awhile since the last time these two teams met, but it started out great for the Heat as Brett Findlay scored just 27 seconds into the game and both Garnet Hathaway , Andrew Mangiapane and Tyler Wotherspoon recorded 3 point nights as the Heat doubled up the Gulls 6-3 back on November 10 at the Valley View Casino Center.

David Rittich made 23 saves to earn the win.

He may not be getting his due, but the Stockton Heat need centerman Brett Findlay and his skillset every night.

Since taking over as the center on Andrew Mangiapane’s line after Mark Jankowski got called up, Findlay has recorded 3 goals and 8 assists, and as you’ve heard Coach Huska say, one of the key reasons why Findlay finds success is because he plays the game with pace.

And as a people who had seen Findlay dominate in the ECHL with the San Francisco Bulls and Alaska Aces during the Thunder Hockey era in Stockton, it’s exciting to see a player who was maybe a little undervalued earlier in his career start to get his just desserts.

Findlay just got done recording his fourth multi-point game of the season on Saturday against Tucson, and we like the new look to that line featuring Findlay, Mangiapane and Ryan Lomberg, who’s filled in beautifully in a similar role to one that Garnet Hathaway played before his call to Calgary.

Look to number 36 in red tonight if the Heat are to beat the Gulls on the road.

MR. 700
The Heat have seen Rod Pelley play his 500th AHL game on October 28 in Bakersfield, Colby Robak play his 500th pro game (NHL + AHL) on November 22 in Ontario and provided he’s in the lineup, will now get to see Tanner Glass play his 700th pro game.

Glass has played 518 NHL games with Florida, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Pittsburgh, New York Rangers and Calgary to go along with 175 games in the AHL with Rochester, Hartford and Stockton and a brief six-game stint in the top league in Slovakia with HC Banska Bystrica during the 2012-13 NHL Lockout.

This season, he has two assists on the season and in his last game, racked up a single game high (for the Heat that is) of 19 penalty minutes, standing up for a nasty slash across the face of Morgan Klimchuk.  He’s a terrific teammate, a good option for the Heat at center and we congratulate him for such a lengthy pro hockey career.

Robak Shines in Stockton Symphony Performance

Caravan News - 28 Article rating: No rating

Heat defenseman, Colby Robak performed with the Stockton Symphony on Sunday at Atherton Theatre on the campus of Delta College. This holiday performance kicked off the partnership between the Stockton Heat and the Stockton Symphony and it was actually Robak’s first time at an orchestra performance.

Robak read the Christmas story, ‘Yes, Virginia There is a Santa Claus’ during the symphony’s beautiful rendition of the song ‘Elgar Nimrod.’ The Christmas story comes from the elegant editorial response from the New York Sun in 1897 responding to a girl Virginia if Santa Claus is real.

Heat Fans Donate Toys, Heat Players Deliver Them

Caravan News - 80 Article rating: No rating

On Saturday night, the Stockton Heat partnered with the United Way of San Joaquin County to collect toys for children this holiday season, and Heat fans responded to donate 162 toys!

Ranging from skateboards, to Star Wars toys, dolls, Nerf guns and more, a number of the toys were taken to the Children’s Home of Stockton on Monday by Heat forwards Luke Gazdic and Austin Carroll.

However judging by the pictures, it wasn’t just the toys that were donated that was appreciated by the kids, but also the time as well, and for Gazdic, time spent behind a piano too!

In addition, we partnered with ABC10 to give fans an opportunity to participate in the Angel Tree, a national program from the Salvation Army that allows a family to purchase gifts for a child this holiday season.  We’re happy to say that 33 tags were returned to Stockton Arena complete with a number of great gifts that will surely brighten the holiday season for kids in our community.

Thank you all for your contributions!
