Delta Drama presents 'The Laramie Project'

Play honors Matthew Shepard's memory 20 years later

Event date: 10/19/2018 2:00 PM - 10/28/2018 4:00 PM Export event

Delta Drama presents “The Laramie Project,” a highly acclaimed play based on the 1998 slaying of University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard, who was murdered for being openly gay.

Writer Moisés Kaufman and fellow members of the Tectonic Theater Project made six trips to Wyoming shortly after the crime, conducting more than 200 interviews with the surrounding community. From these interviews, the group was able to create an inspiring reproduction of the response from a grieving community.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of Matthew Shepard's death, Delta Drama actors have reconstructed this deeply moving theatrical experiment. "The Laramie Project" is a breathtaking collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable.

“The Laramie Project” will be performed Oct. 19-20 and Oct. 26-27 at 7 p.m. at the Alfred H. Muller Studio Theatre. Additional 2 p.m. shows are scheduled for Oct. 21 and Oct. 28.

The play is recommended for those 12 years and older. Tickets are $9 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at dca.deltacollege.edu or by phone at (209) 954-5110 (add $3 per order).
