RTD Will Not Operate Bus Service on Thanksgiving Day

On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22, San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) will not operate its regular fixed-route service (Stockton Metro, Metro Express, Intercity, Hopper, and Commuter Services).  RTD’s administrative offices, Downtown Transit Center (DTC), and call center will also be closed.

RTD offers the following options for those in need of transportation on Thanksgiving Day:

Serving northern San Joaquin County as far south as Hammer Lane in Stockton, RTD’s Van Go, its new on-demand service, will be operating at its normal hours—from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The service is available for $5 per one-way trip.  See sjRTD.com/vango for more information.

  • A limited, demand-response service will be available on a first-come, first-served basis by reservation only, starting at 8:00 a.m. with the last drop-off by 6:00 p.m.  The fare is $3 per one way for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) certified customers and $5 per one way for the general public.  RTD will give priority to seniors and persons with disabilities.

Reservations can be made by calling (209) 955-8420 from now until Tuesday, November 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  This service will be limited to one round-trip per passenger, 16 one-way trips for the day.

Greyhound will operate service on both Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23.  For assistance with Greyhound during the holiday, please call their customer service number: for English, call (800) 231-2222, for Spanish, call (800) 531-5332, or visit greyhound.com.

On Friday, November 23, RTD will resume regular weekday service except for Commuter Routes 165, 172, and 173.  Route 165 passengers may use 163 to reach the same destination.

Commuter Routes 165, 172, and 173 will resume on Monday, November 26, and RTD’s administrative offices, DTC, and call center will also reopen on that day.
