2019 Lawyers in the Library Legal Clinics Cancelled

Due to a shortage of attorneys available for The San Joaquin County Bar Association’s Lawyers in the Library free public legal clinics, the remaining scheduled 2019 clinics will not take place. The clinics are generally held monthly and rotate among libraries in Stockton, Lodi, and Tracy. The San Joaquin County Bar Association remains committed to providing access to legal services, and will communicate information about new programs coming in 2020.

Announcing the First Neighborhood Corner Stores to Receive Recognition as Healthy Retail Stores

The San Joaquin County Public Health Services CalFresh Healthy Living Program has released its first list of healthy local food retail stores that have been identified through the Refresh San Joaquin Healthy Retail Recognition Program (HRRP). This designation acknowledges that over the last twelve (12) months, these stores have made specific changes geared to improve availability and promotion of healthy food products and to decrease the marketing of unhealthy items.

3rd Annual Dining in the Dark Fundraiser

Community Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired will host the third annual Dining In The Dark—an absolutely SENSE-ATIONAL experience—on Saturday, October 19, 2019, beginning at 5:30 p.m. An event unique to San Joaquin County, guests have the opportunity to wear sleep shades—removal of vision gives greater awareness of other senses. This experience gives a glimpse into an unfamiliar world.

Candlelight Vigil to Honor Victims of Domestic Violence

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Women’s Center-Youth & Family Services will remember the victims who have died as a result of domestic violence during its annual Night of Remembrance. The candlelight vigil will be held on Thursday, October 24th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at 620 N. San Joaquin Street in Stockton, California. It is free to the public, and the community is invited to show its support and join us.
