The San Joaquin County Historical Society & Museum is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the HOLT 75 TRACTOR at the Museum, Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 5:30.
The evening will include self-guided strolling tours of the historic Calaveras School, blacksmith shop, the Sunshine Trail, Julia Weber House, the tractor buildings, including the Cortopassi-Avansino Exhibition Building. Many of the Holt / Caterpillar tractors will be on display. Snap Jackson and the Knock-On-Wood Players will entertain throughout the evening. Held on the Big Lawn, the reception and dinner, catered by Angelina’s, will include a program and live auction. Museum Board Members, Michael Machado and Susan de Polo are Co-Chairs of the celebration.
The Holt 75 Tractor rolled into production in 1913, weighing 23,600 pounds and capable of hauling tens of thousands of pounds over long distances. The Holt Manufacturing Company, headquartered in Stockton, utilized the Holt 75 to revolutionize practices in agriculture and industry across America. Farmers and foresters from California to New York made use of its utilitarian design, and the US and British armies used the 75 as their primary hauling device during WWI. The tractor was even used to build the first federal highways across the country in the 1920s. The Holt family’s legacy of innovation and leadership shaped our world for the better. It is for this reason that we honor their roots in San Joaquin County at this summer’s Holt 75 Celebration dinner.
The proceeds generated from the event will support the Museum’s exhibits and award winning living history educational programs such as Valley Days, Heritage Days, and Pioneer School Days.
