Veterans Treatment Court Seventh Graduation Class

The San Joaquin County Superior Court will hold its Veterans Treatment Court graduation on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 10 a.m. in Department 10-D at the Stockton Courthouse, 180 E. Weber Avenue. The Honorable Barbara A. Kronlund will preside over the ceremony. A mission of the Veterans Treatment Court is to identify eligible veterans in the criminal justice system and place them into treatment and court supervision as an alternative to incarceration. This is San Joaquin’s seventh ceremony since the Veterans Court was founded in 2015.

The Reynolds Gallery at the University of the Pacific is pleased to announce its next exhibition Life’s Track: A Centenary Celebration of Richard Yip (1919 – 1981). Organized by the artist’s family and the University Curator, the show features work from the family collection and the University’s permanent art collection. The show explores four decades of Richard Yip’s paintings in the context of mid-20th century ideas of Eastern and Western art and the artists of the “California Scene.” A beloved teacher at Pacific and beyond, Yip’s exuberant and approachable philosophy toward making art is on view in more than 35 works in watercolor, acrylic, and collage from the mid 1940s to the time of his death in 1981.

Ports annual ‘30 Days to Opening Day’ celebration begins

The Ports released their annual “30 Days to Opening Day” tradition Wednesday. The Ports will celebrate the team’s 70th baseball season in the California League with the San Joaquin community, with festivities beginning Wednesday, March 6, and continuing through Thursday, April 4th. 

Apply for 2019 Safe and Sane Fireworks Sales

Fireworks classified as “Safe and Sane” by the State Fire Marshal are approved for sale and use in the city of Stockton. Safe and Sane Fireworks sales are limited to 30 qualifying nonprofit organizations that submit an application to the City of Stockton and are then selected to receive a sales permit through a lottery process. The application period for the Fireworks Sales Permit Lottery opens March 4, 2019, and ends March 28, 2019, at 4:30 p.m.  

Banner Island Ballpark to Host 2019 WCC Baseball Championship

The Championship will be held at in Stockton for the seventh consecutive year

The Stockton Ports, in conjunction with Visit Stockton, will host the 2019 West Coast Conference Baseball Championship at  Banner Island Ballpark, the team announced Friday. Play amongst the top-four West Coast Conference regular season teams will begin on May 23 and will conclude on May 25.
