Stockton Police Department Computer 9-1-1 System Upgrade Project Recognized

The City of Stockton Information Technology (IT) Department was notified that a recently completed two-year project to upgrade and replace the Stockton Police Department Computer Aided Dispatch and Report Management System has received the esteemed Center for Digital Government, “Best of California,” Demonstrated Excellence in Project Management Award.

Captain Antonio Sajor, Stockton Police Department Technical Services Division, was selected for his leadership role in the successful migration of systems that run the dispatch center and records management systems of the police department. Captain Sajor will be honored and accept the award at the annual awards event in Sacramento on September 12, 2017, where project leaders and IT professionals from throughout the entire state will be recognized.

“When I first came to the City of Stockton 2.5 years ago, my top priority was to upgrade the 9-1-1 system and records management hardware, operating system and database, requiring a completely different architecture,” said Information Technology Director Nabil Fares.  “These are such critical systems for the safety of our community, and there is no room for problems or delays. This responsibility was made significantly easier under the leadership of Captain Sajor. Instead of just another IT project, it became a team effort, where he engaged and inspired everyone along the way, keeping constant vigil over the process and progress and addressing critical project tasks and milestones along the way, resulting in a project that was virtually problem-free, on-time and under budget.  It is every IT professional’s dream to have a client that takes such ownership of a project and recognizes the importance of a successful implementation for employees and the community.”

The Center for Digital Government recognizes professionals and projects in California state and local government and educational institutions annually.  Awards are presented each year at the California Digital Government Summit, which takes place in Sacramento during the month of September.

“It is truly unexpected and humbling to be honored by the Center for Digital Government,” said Captain Sajor. “I believe the exceptional performance on this project was that of my colleagues in the Information Technology Department and Police Department who poured every ounce of their professional effort into this collaboration. Projects like this are only successful when you have team of people who work hard and want to be led. I appreciate the opportunity provided by the Chief’s Office to use and refine leadership and management techniques I have learned throughout my career with the Stockton Police Department, and look forward to future leadership and management opportunities that will benefit the department and community.”
