The 23rd Annual Stockton Fire/Police Department and Food 4 Less/Rancho San Miguel Markets Turkey Brigade will take place Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Police and Fire personnel will load 600 turkeys totaling 9,000 pounds (4.5 tons) on Fire trucks, Police vehicles and the Food 4 Less truck to help feed hungry families during the holidays starting at 9am in front of the Food 4 Less Hammer Lane location.
Every year, funds donated by the members of the Police Officers and Fire Department Association are matched by the ownership of Food 4 Less and Rancho San Miguel Markets. For the 23rd year, at approximately 9:20am, with sirens on, the Turkey Brigade will travel down Pacific Avenue on their way to the Emergency Food Bank.
“What an amazing 23-year partnership. We are so very grateful to the brave first-responders from the Stockton Police Offers Association and Stockton Fire Department Local 456. Along with the generosity and community commitment of Food 4 Less and Rancho San Miguel Markets their combined donation help those in need." Says Gillian Murphy, Interim CEO of the Emergency Food Bank.
Following the Emergency Food Bank’s Thanksgiving Turkey Distribution where over 2,000 turkeys were distributed to the working poor of San Joaquin County, this donation of turkeys will once again benefit families during the Christmas season. The food bank is expected to hand out the turkeys during its December 20th giveaway.
Food Bank officials anticipate between 1,200-1,500 families for its December 20th giveaway. Each family receives a complete turkey and meal box.
