Approximately 1,500 lbs. of Rainbow Trout have been planted in preparation for the 35th Annual Trout Bout on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Oak Grove Regional Park in Stockton.
Oak Grove’s 10-acre lake will open at 6:15 a.m. on Saturday for the tournament, which kids age 15 years and younger can fish for FREE. The event is one of three annual fishing tournaments presented by San Joaquin County Parks and the Delta Fly Fishers and sponsored in part by Sportman’s Warehouse in Stockton. The event is also supported by Stockton Sportsmen’s Club.
There is no registration fee for the Trout Bout, however, a $5 fishing permit fee and valid CA. fishing license are required for those sixteen (16) years of age or over. A $6 vehicle-parking fee will also apply. All State Fish and Game laws apply. Participants must supply their own fishing equipment.
Prizes will be awarded in all categories (youth and adult competitions). Park gates will be open at 6:15 a.m., last weigh-in is at 12:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded shortly thereafter.
