April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Sexual violence is any sexual activity where consent is not obtained or not freely given. It impacts every community and affects people of all genders, sexual orientations, and ages. The perpetrator of sexual violence is usually someone the victim knows, such as a friend, current or former intimate partner, coworker, neighbor, or family member. It can occur in person or through technology, such as posting or sharing sexual pictures of someone without their consent, or non-consensual sexting. The national theme of this year’s campaign is: Together We Act, United We Change.

PREVAIL is presenting a unique opportunity to watch “The Last Drop,” an inspiring short film that helps adults and young people recognize and react to the early signs of abusive behavior in others and in themselves. The film takes viewers on a journey through the memories of real survivors of relationship abuse.

This weekend in Los Angeles, Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom (D-Stockton) Speaker Robert Rivas (D-Salinas) and a delegation of California Assembly members met with firefighters and officials to discuss how to further assist emergency response efforts, and to fast-track recovery from the devastating and deadly wildfires. The Stockton Lantern Festival happily announces a fireworks display to take place on New Years Eve, December 31st. The firework show will light up the downtown Stockton sky once Stockton Lantern Festival goes dark at 10pm.
