Kicking off the holiday season, Stockton families will once again see lighted, decorated boats as they make their annual voyage through the San Joaquin Delta towards downtown Stockton, on Saturday, December 3rd at 5 pm. Hosted by the Stockton Yacht Club this year marks the 41st Anniversary for the annual Lynn Hahn Memorial Delta Reflections Lighted Boat Parade. The boat procession arrives downtown at approximately 6:30 pm, following the city’s tree lighting ceremony at Weber Point.
This year’s boat parade proceeds will be shared in partnership with the Sea Scouts of San Joaquin, an inclusive service organization founded by Boy Scouts of America for all youth aged 13-21. Sea Scouting is and has been America's premiere on the water high adventure and personal development program for over 100 years, helping youth in the community learn about water safety, and boating discipline. Sea Scouts perform various tasks from service to their ship, to community service and they participate in projects such as river or beach clean-up efforts, food drives, youth programs, flag ceremonies, and serve as honor guards at various community events.
“Registration fees raised this year will benefit the local non-profit. The mission of teaching kids from all backgrounds about boating, community service, and water safety would make my mother proud and she would want these monies to help the work they do for our community.” stated Roger Hahn, coordinator of the event and Lynn Hahn’s son.
Thanks to our local boaters, the annual parade features decorated watercraft of all shapes and sizes and creates a very unique event for the Stockton community and the Delta. The popular Fireboat from the Port of Stockton will lead the way down the Delta Channel to start the procession of lighted watercraft to the delight of families and visitors as it makes its way on to Weber Point and Lake McLeod. The boats will turn around at Lake McLeod, creating an up-close lighted spectacular event for all to see. You may also get an early glimpse of some of the lighted boats on Friday, Dec. 2nd at Village West Marina starting at 5 pm and share in pre-parade family festivities.
The boat parade will coincide with the lighting of the holiday tree at Weber Point. The park will open at 4pm with the tree lighting ceremony commencing at 5:30pm.
