A New Clinic for Southeast Stockton Residents

A spacious, new clinic in town, Community Medical Centers Inc. began seeing patients in March 2015 at its newest clinic located at 1031Waterloo Road, just off North Wilson Way. This clinic will be the 15thoperated by Stockton-based CMC in San Joaquin, Solano, and Yolo counties service areas and eventually will be home to six physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners working out of 12 state-of-the-art exam rooms.

The need for the new clinic in southeast Stockton was "huge", according to CMC chief executive Christine Noguera. She explains, "there are significant access issues for health care in a pretty densely populated area. That's why this area was chosen. St. Joseph's (Medical Center)emergency department - just two miles away - is absolutely swamped. They are very supportive for opening a new site for good, preventative primary care."

The dream of the clinic became reality when CMC was awarded a$691,667 grant in 2013 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to establish a new delivery site. It was part of a $30.6 million package awarded to support 46 new health centers throughout California, serving largely under-privileged and under-served populations.
