The University of the Pacific named Ryan Garko head coach of the Tigers baseball team, as the former big leaguer accepted the position Tuesday in Stockton.

San Joaquin County Public Health Officer, Dr. Alvaro Garza, confirmed that a 70 year old male living in Manteca is the first human with West Nile Virus (WNV) infection in San Joaquin County this year.  So far this year, at least four other counties have reported four other cases of WNV in humans.  

Paul Dassenko, a 1982 graduate of University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento and an international arbitrator, has been elected to the university's Board of Regents.

The Code Enforcement Symposium will bring together  advocates and professionals from across the San Joaquin Valley to explore current code enforcement strategies being used throughout the San Joaquin Valley, and the resources available to support and grow its work. The Symposium will be held on Wednesday, July 26 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the University of the Pacific Vereschagin Alumni House in Stockton, CA. It is co-hosted by the San Joaquin Valley Housing Collaborative, Office of Community and Economic Development at Fresno State, and the California Coalition for Rural Housing.

Two more seeds were eliminated from qualifiers on day two of the Stockton Challenger at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center on Monday, leaving just four remaining as we head to the final round. Eight total finalists will cap off the qualifying round tomorrow, July 18th as they eye the four spots in the Tournament’s main draw, which also begins tomorrow.
