City Manager Kurt Wilson has announced the appointment of DeAnna Solina to the position of Director Human Resources for the City of Stockton, effective immediately. Ms. Solina has been serving in the position of Interim Director since August 2015. Prior to her interim position, she served as the Assistant Director of Human Resources since August 2012.
“As a native Stocktonian, I have been dedicated to improving the city where I was born and raised,” shared Ms. Solina. “After law school, I first joined the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, then the City Attorney’s Office. It was there that I discovered that I could make use of my law degree and do the work that I most enjoy in the field of Human Resources.”
Ms. Solina first joined the City in the City Attorney’s Office in July 2005. As a Deputy City Attorney, she was the legal advisor to a number of City departments, including Human Resources, Administrative Services, Community Services, Fire and Police, and supported numerous boards and commissions. In her role as Assistant Director of Human Resources, she managed the Divisions of Labor and Employee Relations and Workforce Planning and helped to support Benefits and Risk Services.
“DeAnna has done a tremendous job as the Interim Director, making a seamless transition in supporting the complex needs of a City with 14 departments and over 1,400 employees,” said Deputy City Manager Laurie Montes. “Just in the last few months, she has made significant progress in moving the department forward, including improving the public safety and diversity hiring processes. Leaders like DeAnna make us all better at what we do. It is a pleasure to appoint her as the permanent director.”
