Councilmember Zapien Chosen to Participate in Leadership Program
Councilmember Moses Zapien has been selected to participate in the 2014-15 Class of the American Leadership Forum – Great Valley Chapter. Each year, 20 to 24 established leaders from various sectors in the community are nominated from the tri-county region of San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Merced to participate in a year-long, national-caliber leadership development program. The program consists of monthly seminars on topical issues, as participants develop a civic engagement initiative to address an actual regional need. The program runs from June 2014 through May 2015.
“I’m honored to be selected to participate in this nationally-recognized leadership program,” Councilmember Zapien said. “Many of the challenges we face as a City are regional in scope. It is critically important we develop leadership in the Central Valley committed to working collaboratively to meet our region’s challenges. That is why programs such as the American Leadership Forum, which focus on building regional leadership and cooperation, are so important.”
Councilmember Zapien’s participation in the program is being fully funded through a combination of sponsorships and private tuition payments.
