Crystal Waters is headlining the Fifth annual Stockton Pride Festival on August 27

Musician Crystal Waters will headline the Stockton Pride Festival

Crystal Waters, a musician best known for her ’90s dance hits “Gypsy Woman” and “100% Pure Love,” will be headlining the Stockton Pride Festival on Saturday, August 27, at Weber Point Events Center. Waters’ hit “100% Pure Love” debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and was one of the longest charting songs in history when it spent a total of 45 weeks on the charts. She has participated in several AIDS benefit concerts and performed at pride festivals all across the country.

Over the course of her career, Crystal Waters has refused to play by the rules. When dance music was just considered disposable entertainment, Crystal injected the beats with social commentary and introduced a cool ironic style that distinguished her from the stereotypical leather lunged divas.

Waters is best known for her string of domestic and international number one dance hits in the 1990’s, including her 1991 signature smash, “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)”, which garnered her three American Music Award nominations and made her an international sensation.  She again found mainstream success with “100% Pure Love”, which became one of the longest charting songs on the Billboard Hot 100, staying on the charts for a whopping 45 weeks.  That accomplishment earned Crystal several more award nominations, including an MTV Video Music Award nod and four Billboard Music Awards, which she won for the Top-Selling Hot Dance Music Club Play Single. The 11x Billboard charting star achieved her most recent #1 hit with the 2015 release, Synergy, a fierce and hypnotic house classic.

Joining Waters on the Health Plan of San Joaquin Main Stage will be local “real country music/ Outlaw Americana” band Polyester Wags and Bay Area-based singer-songwriter Eli Conley, LA based dance/electronica artist Dyson, Stockton born R&B teen sensation Zaya Rae and Jen-Ro, a Bay Area pro-lesbian rapper.

In addition, Stockton Pride 5 announces that this year’s festival will take place at Downtown Stockton’s Weber Point Event Center. Nicholas Hatten, Pride Center Executive Director states, “We are thrilled to host our festival in the heart of Stockton. With wonderful and creative shaded areas, a carnival and Crystal Waters as our headliner, we just logistically couldn’t have housed the event anywhere else. We expect double the crowd, double the fun and double the opportunities for shopping and patronizing pro-LGBT businesses and organizations.”
