San Joaquin Delta College’s Marketing, Communications and Outreach team has been recognized by its peers across the state, receiving three awards from the Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO).
The team received first place in the marketing campaign category with its “Smart Step Forward” campaign; first place in Outdoor Mediafor the pole banners around Delta College; and second place in TV Advertising for its “Smart Step Forward” TV commercial. There were 333 entries submitted by community colleges across California for the different award categories.
“Our team is extremely honored to receive this award”, said Shelly Valenton, Director of Marketing, Communications and Outreach at Delta College. “When these campaigns were implemented, our team had just been established and we only had a few weeks from concept to execution. It was a real team effort. I am especially proud of the work of a talented team of Delta College students, Floor 24 Media, who worked with us in creating the TV campaign.” Valenton accepted the award on behalf of Delta College at CCPRO’s Annual Conference in Anaheim in April.
Delta College’s Smart Step Forward campaign integrated both traditional and digital advertising media to strengthen the College’s position as a “smart” choice for beginning a bachelor’s degree, building a technical career or exploring career possibilities. With over 170 technical programs and degrees available, Delta College offers a tremendous opportunity to its students to step forward on their career in a very cost-effective way.
CCPRO is a professional development and service organization that seeks to promote excellence in California's community college public relations and related professions.
