Delta College to host candidate forums

Weekly events begin Wednesday, Sept. 14

San Joaquin Delta College is proud to once again host a series of candidate forums in advance of the upcoming November elections.

The forums will be held each Wednesday for the remainder of the month of September.

All forums begin at 6 p.m. and will be in the South Forum at Delta. A broadcast will be available for those unable to attend.

Here is the schedule:

Wednesday, Sept. 14

  • California State Assembly, District 13 (Carlos Villapudua and Veronica Vargas)
  • San Joaquin County Supervisor District 2 (Elbert Holman and Paul Canepa)
  • Stockton City Council (Michele Padilla and Sol Jobrack)

Wednesday, Sept. 21

  • San Joaquin County Supervisor District 4 (Steven Ding and Steve Colangelo)

Wednesday, Sept. 28

  • Stockton Unified School District races (areas 2, 5, 6, 7)

Parking at Delta College is free. A campus map is available here. Broadcast links are posted here.

In addition to the South Forum, an overflow area will be available in nearby Upper Danner Hall. The candidates and sponsors will also have information tables in Upper Danner before, during and after the forums.

Delta has partnered with a number of sponsors to make this month’s forums possible: CSU Stanislaus, the League of Women Voters of San Joaquin County, The Business Council of San Joaquin County, University of the Pacific, the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce, the African American Chamber of Commerce & Chamber Foundation, the San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Central Valley Asian Chamber of Commerce, and The Record.

“It’s been four years since we last hosted candidate forums on the Delta College campus, and we’re excited to welcome the community back,” said Joel Blank, political science professor at Delta.

“Helping voters make informed decisions is critical to the democratic process, and we at Delta are thankful to all of our partner organizations for helping make this series of forums possible," said Cirian Villavicencio, also a political science professor at Delta.
