The Mexican Heritage Center and Gallery will be having its annual Day of the Dead Exhibit this year opening October 8
th running through November 8
th.
In preparation for this event local Artista del Valle Rudy Garcia will be giving an informative lecture providing insight into the traditions of the Day of the Dead as celebrated in Mexico. The lecture will take place Saturday, September 14th at 5:30p.m. in the center located at 111 S. Sutter in downtown Stockton.
Anyone interested in displaying an altar at the exhibit should attend this lecture.
Children’s workshops – Member artist, Angelique Grijalva, will be providing workshops for children ages 7-13 beginning September 9th.
Workshop topics include mask making, sugar skulls, papel picado, marigold tissue flowers and more. October workshops will be given by dance instructor Jonathan Sanchez. Classes will be Monday – Thursday from 3:30-5:30.
The workshops are free of charge thanks to a grant from the Stockton Arts Commission for the Catrina Project.
