Delta College Superintendent/President Dr. Kathy Hart was awarded the 2016 “Educator of the Year Award” by the Central Valley Asian-American Chamber of Commerce (CVACC) at their annual Recognition Dinner, March 24. The ceremony took place at Stockton’s China Palace Restaurant.

Leslie Edman, Executive Director of the CVACC says, “Dr. Hart was selected for her outstanding leadership in serving a diverse student population and for her enduring commitment to the success of all students. Her civic engagement with local government, service and cultural arts organizations as well as the business community furthers an important purpose of CVACC: Strength in Unity.”

Edman adds the CVACC is proud to also recognize Dr. Hart as the first woman to serve as Superintendent/President of San Joaquin Delta College.

Dr. Hart sees commonality between Delta College and the CVACC. “Delta and the Chamber have similar goals. We both work to provide alliances and outreach between educational institutions and the local business community. It was particularly gratifying to be joined in recognition by other outstanding community leaders and award winners whose work inspires positive outcomes. I thank the CVACC and all my colleagues for their support!”

The Central Valley Asian American Chamber of Commerce was founded in 2000 as a non-profit professional business and trade association. The mission of the CVACC is to advocate and promote Asian American businesses; and through business, economic and community development, improve the overall quality of life for all residents of the Central Valley.
