El Concilio-Council for the Spanish Speaking and the University of California Davis Center for Health Disparities will be recipients of a Covered California Grant for $1,000,000. The Covered California grants are being awarded after a highly competitive process to applicants to outreach and educate the community about the new federal Affordable Care Act.
California Covered will be awarding $37 million in the grants amongst 48 organizations throughout the state of California. California Covered received more than 200 applications from various small and large community organizations and agencies.
The UC Davis Center for Health disparities will conduct their outreach and education efforts in Sacramento County and El Concilio will focus their efforts in San Joaquin County.
“We are pleased to be partnering with the UC Davis Center for Health Disparities on this very important endeavor. We look forward to educating the residents of San Joaquin County on the Affordable Health Act to insure that California’s diverse population will have fair and equal access to quality health care coverage,” stated Jose Rodriguez President/CEO of El Concilio.
