Fun Library Activities & Classes

LIVE FROM CESAR CHAVEZ! AUTHOR MAREK BREIGER

The Chavez Library will welcome Marek Breiger as part of the Live from Cesar Chavez! series on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 6:30 pm. Mr. Breiger will discuss his book, and copies will be available for purchase and signing at the end of the program.

Believing that California literature allows us to understand how we are a part of something larger than ourselves and that reading such literature can give us hope, Marek Breiger has put pen to paper and recently published “The City and the Fields: Multicultural Themes in Modern California Literature.” Breiger’s work takes literature lovers on a journey through all the great works of California literature – from Jack London and John Steinbeck to Gary Soto and Amy Tan.

Mr. Breiger grew up in Stockton and has taught high school English for 33 years. He has published over 40 essays dealing with California literature and won two Dorothy Wright Awards from San Jose State University for “contributions in promoting excellence in writing and love of literature.”
