Kick-Off’ Fund-Raiser for League of Women Voters of San Joaquin County

The League of Women Voters of San Joaquin County (LWVSJC) is inviting members and the public to attend this year’s ‘Kick-Off’ Fund-Raiser on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Delicato Winery, 12001 South Highway 99 in Manteca CA 95336. Following a light lunch and wine tasting at 1 p.m., a program and speaker will focus on “GMOs and Our Grocery Basket”. The program will end at 3 p.m.

The speaker for the program is Pamm Larry, the founder of Label GMOs, a movement she initiated in January 2011 to get an initiative, Proposition 37, on the November 2012 ballot.  Described by the Huffington Post as a “farmer, midwife, businesswoman and a gutsy grandmother of three,” Larry educated herself about the long-term human and environmental effects of genetically modified organisms.  Then she assembled like-minded people and led the push for labeling to let people know what is in the food we eat.

Directions to Delicato Winery are:  Highway 99 (North / South) to French Camp Road; drive west just under the highway overpass & turn south (left), crossing railroad tracks and continue on the frontage road to Delicato Winery.

I-5: (N / S) French Camp Road off ramp, driving East, crossing El Dorado, passing Park View Cemetery (on the left) and in view of the Highway 99 overpass; turn right (before going under the overpass) onto the frontage road, crossing railroad tracks in the process. Delicato Winery is on your right.

The cost of the event is $ $35 Members and Public,  $15.00 Students. Reservations must be made by checks made out to: The League of Women Voters of San Joaquin County (LWVSJC),  mailed and received at P O Box 4548, Stockton CA 95204 by September 6, 2013.
