Live from Cesar Chavez! Welcomes Artist/Poet Richard Rios
As part of the Live from Cesar Chavez! program series, the Cesar Chavez Central Library will welcome local artist and poet Richard Rios for a special program on Monday, April 8 at 6:30 pm. Mr. Rios will discuss his new memoir – Songs from the Barrio – a portrait of life, of growing up in Modesto with his Mexican-born mother and five siblings, of finding a way out of the barrio through his art, and coming to understand his mother's request to "Never forget you are a Mexican." Copies of Mr. Rios’ book will be available for purchase and signing at the end of the program.
Live from Cesar Chavez! is a collaboration between the Library & Literacy Foundation for San Joaquin County and the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library. The goal of this project is to present informative and educational programs that encourage reading and lifelong library use among adults.
