Andrea Tonkin will be the guest artist in August for the monthly
For the Sake of Art’s class for area students.
Tonkin will present a class on sculpting with wire. Her class for students will be on Monday, Aug. 5, at 4 p.m. for ages 6 to 12. Students will meet on the remaining Mondays during August and continue working on their art project. There is no cost for the student classes.
She will also teach adults ages 13 and up on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. A $20 fee covers all materials needed for the class. Scholarships are available.
Both classes meet at Zion Lutheran Church, 808 Porter Avenue.
For the Sake of Art was launched in January to fill the void in art education caused by school budget cuts.

Are you a teacher? Do you want to share your talents with the next generation of artists? If so, we need you!
We need artists from all mediums who would be willing to teach one adult class and one children’s class. The adult class will be the first Saturday of each month and the children’s class with the artist/teacher will take place on the first Monday of the month. We will then have classes with the children for the remaining Mondays where they will actually “do ” the art that you have taught them during the first session. You will be paid for your time and supplies and we will have helpers available for the children’s classes.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please contact us at 209-603-6505 or [email protected] for more information.
