NAMI San Joaquin County the local NAMI Affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will offer its NAMI Basics education course for parents and caregivers of children and teens with emotional and behavioral difficulties.
The course begins on Friday, March 28th and continues once a week on Fridays, through May 2nd from 6:00pm to 8:30pm, in Stockton CA.
Trained teachers who are themselves the parents of individuals who developed emotional and behavioral difficulties prior to the age of 13 years will lead the course.
“We care about children. We care about families dealing with mental health challenges,” said NAMI San Joaquin County Program Director Debbie Alter. “NAMI Basics provides an important road map to guide families during difficult times.”
The course includes- Getting an accurate diagnosis- Treatment options- Strategies for challenging behaviors- Coping skills to help alleviate the impact that and behavioral difficultieshave on the entire family- to find local resources and support for your child and entire family- Working well with your child’s teacher.
