Emergency Food Bank (EFB) Board of Directors President Susanne St. Clair is pleased to announce that Gillian Murphy will serve as the Interim Chief Executive Officer. “As a former dean at San Joaquin Delta College, and director of the Small Business Development Center, Gillian brings a wealth of management experience and interaction with local businesses and nonprofits to the EFB. Most significantly, she and her husband, Gary Putnam, have more than 30 years of involvement with the EFB, as supporters and donors. She believes whole heartedly in the mission of the food bank and its place in our community,” St. Clair said.
"I wasn't looking for work. The Food Bank is one of the reasons why I would temporarily come out of retirement and I'm honored to assist staff and the Board in carrying on the good work,” Gillian commented.
Gillian has received countless awards and recognition from local organizations for her advocacy work in our community including winner of the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce’s 2017 Athena Award.
This year, the Emergency Food Bank is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in serving those in need. Last year, the EFB served approximately 78,000 families with nutritional boxes of food. The EFB also collaborates and provides food to numerous “Pantry Partners” throughout the community where food and nutrition education is available.
In addition to the special Thanksgiving and Christmas food distribution, The Emergency Food Bank and the Michael David Family Foundation “Run and Walk Against Hunger” has become an annual tradition that takes place every Thanksgiving morning. This important and fun event includes Kids Quarter Mile, 5K Run/Walk, and 10K Run. Make it a family tradition for your household!
