Pacific Men's Soccer Announces 2014 Schedule
The schedule for the first new season of Pacific men's soccer in almost 20 years has been released as head coach Ryan Jorden announced the full slate of games for the 2014 season.
"We are extremely pleased to announce the Fall 2014 Men's Soccer schedule," Jorden said. "We feel as though the schedule gives us a great opportunity to compete against a spectrum of programs in California from multiple conferences (Big West, Pac-12, WAC) along with a demanding West Coast Conference schedule."
Pacific will hit the pitch for the first time since 1985 with a home exhibition game on August 20 against Dominican at 7:30 p.m. On August 23, the Tigers face Sacramento State at home, in a 10 a.m. exhibition contest.
The regular season opens with six-straight games on the road, beginning with UC Riverside (Aug. 29), followed by contests at UC Irvine (Aug. 31), Grand Canyon (Sept. 6), San Diego State (Sept. 14), San Jose State (Sept. 19), and Cal Poly (Sept. 21).
Pacific returns to campus to face UC Santa Cruz on Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
The Tigers face Gonzaga in the first game against a West Coast Conference opponent, at home on Oct. 3 before heading to Portland (Oct. 5) and Saint Mary's (Oct. 11). The first three games against WCC opponents will count as non-conference games, with the West Coast finishing with a seven-game, round-robin conference slate.
Pacific opens WCC play on the road against defending WCC champ Loyola Marymount (Oct. 17) and San Diego (Oct. 19) before returning home for a three-game homestand.
The Orange & Black meet Santa Clara (Oct. 31) at 7:00 p.m. on Halloween night, then play host to San Francisco (Nov. 2) at 5 p.m. On Nov. 7, the Tigers welcome Portland to campus for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
The Tigers visit Gonzaga on Nov. 9 before wrapping the regular season Nov. 15 at home against Saint Mary's at 7 p.m.
The regular season champion earns the WCC's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
"The return of Men's soccer to University of the Pacific has been anticipated both on campus and in the local community and we are excited to roll out the schedule in anticipation of great community support."
