The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced that the Pacific field hockey team has re-entered the Top 25 coming in at 24 after going on a four-game win streak defeating California, Stanford and UC Davis twice.
Over the weekend, the Tigers hosted No. 10 Stanford on Friday and topped the Cardinal, 2-1 giving them their second conference loss of the season. Alicia Muiños and Hayley Kilfoil each scored for the Tigers, while Savannah Burns and Kriekie van Wyk added the assists.
On Sunday, the Orange and Black hosted UC Davis for their last regular season home game at the Pacific Field Hockey Turf as the Tigers had themselves a scoring frenzy as Burns recorded two goals and an assist, while Rylee Comeau Gaby de Kock and Kilfoil each had a goal in the 5-1 victory.
The pair of wins moved Pacific to 8-7 overall and 4-2 in the conference to clinch the America East West Division title for the third year in a row.
In the nation, Pacific ranks second in the conference and eighth in the nation for assists per game with 2.83. The Tigers also rank second in the conference and 18th in the nation in points per game with 8.00.
Ash Rutherford and Emma Leach continue to dominate in assist as they are second in the conference and rank 14th in the nation in assists per game, 0.75.
Junior, van Wyk is among the top goal scorers in the nation averaging 0.83 goals per game which is good for third in the conference and 21st in the national ranking. The Pretoria, South Africa native also flashes a 1.92 points per game average ranking second in the conference and 29th in the nation.
Newcomer, Marlise van Tonder allowed only two goals over the weekend and recorded six saves for a save percentage go .750 between the posts. On a national scale, she ranks 15th in the nation and third in the conference for saves per game with an average of 6.92.
The Orange and Black take off for another East Coast trip as they visit No. 10 Syracuse and Colgate to wrap up the regular season. The second matchup against Syracuse will be on Saturday, October 28 at 9 a.m. PDT and will be streamed live on ESPN3. The face-off with Colgate is slated for Sunday, October 29 at 11 a.m. PDT and will also have a live stream available via PacificTigers.com.
