Pacific Women's Hoops Heads To No. 21 Cal Saturday
The Pacific women's basketball team will look for its second win over a Pac-12 team this season when the Tigers take on No. 21 Cal in Berkeley on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Pacific (4-2) racked up 46 points in the second half in a win over Arizona on Nov. 23 at the Alex G. Spanos Center to beat a Pac-12 team for the third straight year. Pacific is now 3-2 against the Pac-12 since the conference renamed itself after adding Colorado and Utah for the 2011-12 season.
The Tigers are coming off a 102-41 win over Notre Dame de Namur last Saturday, as five Tigers scored in double-figures. The 61-point victory was the Tigers' third-largest winning margin in program history. Pacific set a school record with a 60-point second half, forcing 38 turnovers and out-scoring the Argonauts 60-18 in the paint.
At 81.8 points per game, Pacific's offense ranks 25th in the NCAA through Dec. 1. The Tigers also rank 13th in turnover margin, at +7.5, and 16th in the nation in steals with 12.3 per game.
Senior guard KiKi Moore leads Pacific in steals, with 3.0 per game, a mark that ranks 21st in the NCAA this season. Moore also is averaging 14.3 points per game. Moore also has handed out 4.7 assists per contest, which puts her in the top 100 national.
Junior forward Kendall Kenyon paces the Tigers in scoring and rebounding, with 17.7 points and 10.8 rebounds per contest. She ranks 28th in the nation in rebounding, while shooting just under 50 percent from the field, and .871 from the free throw line. She ranks 21st in the NCAA with four double-doubles this year.
Junior forward Marjorie Heard scored a career-high tying 18 points on Saturday, bumping her scoring average to 7.8 points per game to go with 6.3 rebounds. She's connected on 50 percent from the field this season.
Guards Madison Parrish (10.3 points, 2.7 assists per game) and Sam Pettinger (7.8 points per game, 53 field goal percentage) and Erin Butler (7.5 points per game, hitting 42 percent from three-point range) give the Tigers six players averaging over seven and a half points per game.
