Pair of Tigers Receive NorPac Honors
Pacific Field Hockey had two players honored by the NorPac Field Hockey conference on Wednesday, November 6th during the annual NorPac tournament banquet in Lynchburg, Va. Senior Emily Tregoning was selected to the All-NorPac West Division team for the third consecutive season while sophomore Hannah Bettencourt was named to the NorPac All-Academic team, her first selection.
Tregoning's selection marks the first time a Pacific field hockey player has been named to three straight All-NorPac teams since Katy McDonough was named to four straight all-NorPac squads from 2006-2009.
The senior midfielder finished with seven goals and four assists on the year, starting all 17 games for the Orange and Black. Tregoning excelled against NorPac opponents, scoring against Cal, Stanford and UC Davis including the game winner in a 4-2 triumph over the Aggies.
Tregoning said of the award, "I feel very honored to be recognized with all the amazing players tonight. I couldn't have done it without my teams help and support."
Bettencourt was recognized for her efforts in the classroom and on the field as part of the NorPac All-Academic team. The sophomore engineering major earned a 3.71 GPA while playing in all 17 games for the Tigers. Bettencourt registered two assists while serving as an integral force in Pacific's penalty corner offense.
Pacific will get the NorPac tournament underway on Thursday, facing the second seed in the east, Longwood. Pass back will be at 3:30pm Pacific time and the game will be televised online. Visit PacificTigers.com for the viewing link.
