Children participating in the Children’s Summer Reading Program at various branches of the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library will have an exciting opportunity to throw a pie in the face of their local library staff. The challenge is a collective effort, but special throwers will be chosen at random. Once participating children have read and logged 2,500 books in the Summer Reading Program at their respective branches, librarians will draw 2 names from the completed Summer Reading Logs to determine the pie throwers.
On Thursday, July 31, the pies will fly at the following staff at these times and locations:
· 2:00 p.m., Melinda Kopp and Tara Gallegos, Ripon Branch Library
· 3:00 p.m., Rena Wiriaatmadja, Manteca Library
· 3:30 p.m., Community Services Interim Director Craig Bronzan and Suzy Daveluy, Cesar Chavez Library
The Summer Reading Program is to encourage everyone to read during the summer months. The library will host a variety of themed activities for children, teens, and adults that encourage and support a love of reading. Participants can also win prizes for reaching their reading goals. The Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Library and Literacy Foundation for San Joaquin County, the Friends of the Manteca Library, Friends of the Ripon Memorial Library, and Friends of the Stockton Library.
