Members of the public are invited to a Public Information Meeting this Monday evening, May 11, 2015, to learn about plans for a traffic roundabout at Swain Road and Montauban Avenue. The meeting, hosted by the City of Stockton, will be held at the Arnold Rue Community Center, 5758 Lorraine Avenue, Stockton, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A brief presentation about the project will be made at 6:30 p.m. Responding to residential neighborhood concerns, the City of Stockton has developed a project that will convert the existing four-way stop sign controlled intersection to a roundabout at Swain Road and Montauban Avenue. The project includes the following improvements:
¨ Upgrading corner improvements to bring the intersection up to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards for wheelchair accessibility,
¨ Installing a traffic-monitoring camera system, and
¨ Installing signs and striping.
These upgrades are expected to result in improved traffic safety, operations, and air quality, while reducing delays. Representatives from City of Stockton Public Works, along with other specialists in engineering, environmental studies, and right-of-way, will be available at the public meeting to discuss individual concerns and answer questions. A federal grant has been awarded to the City for the design and construction of the project. The design phase is funded 100 percent by the grant. Maps, information about the project, and other displays will be available at the public meeting. The City will also have a brochure that provides tips and guidelines for drivers, bicyclists, pedestrians, and oversized vehicles in roundabouts.
