The Culinary Arts Department at San Joaquin Delta College is proud to announce their
Winter Feast on
Wednesday, December 11, from 5:30pm - 8:30pm in
Delta's Danner Hall.
The evening promises Food + Fun + Festivities - a great evening to support the Delta College Culinary Arts Foundation. Danner Hall will be transformed into a festive display of holiday lights, décor and sound. It is anticipated that this year’s event will have over 200 attendees. In years past, this was a lunch time event that drew about 100 guests. The evening event allows a larger attendance.
Food
The Winter Feast is a culmination of a semester of work by the Culinary Arts department that allows you to taste what Delta students master during the semester. Flavor combinations, smoking, grilling, butchery, classic sauces, perfectly textured cakes, heavenly gelato, and so much more! In the weeks building up to the event the students learn about buffet presentation and banquet service. They practice the art of making centerpieces, garnishing, decorating and building a theme.
Fun
There is no doubt that when you combine great food, wines from Lodi, craft beer and students achieving goals there will be lots of fun. There is no doubt that the students who are participating for the first time in this type of event are a bit nervous, but also excited.
“By moving the event to the evening we can accommodate more guests," said Chef Instructor Kevin Cabrera."We have brought former Culinary Arts students to work with current students. These students are living and working locally and were thrilled to volunteer their time to help...former students coming back to have Fun, no doubt," added Cabrera.
Festivities
Live music provided by Delta Music Instructor Aaron Garner on the piano will add a lively and festive tone. The ever popular photo booth will be available to help create memories of your 2013 Winter Feast. All attendees will be entered into a drawing for a fabulous door prize. A silent auction featuring wine, gift baskets, lodging and dining are sure to be very competitive.

The Culinary Arts Advisory Board is in the process of updating the Scholarship program for the students. The changes to the program include the elimination of cash scholarships and implementing a new review panel for the awarding of scholarships. The new scholarship would provide a student the opportunity to attend a two week culinary arts course and cultural immersion in Italy. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who exhibits savory cooking skills, baking skills, personal presentation, resume submission and an interview process all administered by the Advisory Board.
Delta College Culinary Arts Foundation is a non-profit organization.
