The San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the 41st Annual Business Awards & Installation Luncheon on Friday, June 28, 2013 at the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel in Stockton. The event will begin at 12:00 p.m., tickets are $75 and include lunch. The program also includes the presentation of the new Board of Directors.
“Right now is a critical time in the Central Valley and it’s so important that we recognize companies and individuals who are truly committed to promoting a thriving business community,” stated Brenna Butler Garcia, new CEO to the SJCHCC. The Stockton Mexican American Chamber of Commerce began in 1972 by a group of business owners and individuals to raise awareness for local Latino issues. It also served as the sponsoring organization for the California & United States Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. “For over forty years now this organization has remained at the forefront of issues that create a direct impact on our business members,” said Butler Garcia. “We are very proud to continue this tradition and as a voice for business we play an active role in advocacy efforts to ensure that the interests of our members are represented.”
Those that the chamber will honor this year include: Chitiva’s Salsa & Sports Bar & Grill for Business of the Year; Alicia Arong, for Volunteer of the Year; AT&T, for Corporation of the Year; Fran Aguilera, Economic Development/ Enterprise Zone for Business Advocate of the Year; the San Joaquin Partnership, for Community Based Organization; and Leandro Vicuña, CEO & Founder of Sus Finanzas for the John Aguilar Spirit Award.
The San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SJCHCC) represents the interest of approximately 250 members. The Chamber provides assistance in opening businesses, accessing capital, and links members-to-members through its many events held throughout the year.
