SJCHCC to Host 12th Annual Latina Business Conference

The San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will host its 12th Annual Latina Business Conference: Celebrating Women in Business on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Hilton Hotel, 2323 Grand Canal Blvd, Stockton, California 95207. The event will begin at 8:30 am with a Business to Business Expo, workshops and the luncheon to follow. This year’s event will feature keynote speaker Commissioner Catherine J.K. Sandoval of the California Public Utilities Commission.

“Commissioner Sandoval is a dynamic and prominent Latina who encompasses our messaging of celebrating women in business” said Brenna Butler Garcia, CEO of the SJCHCC. “In addition to being appointed to the CPUC, Commissioner Sandoval’s extensive educational background includes a J.D. from Stanford Law School, a Master of Letters in political science from Oxford, where she was a Rhodes Scholar, and a B.A. from Yale. Her impressive accomplishments make her an exciting addition to this year’s event.”

Commissioner Sandoval was appointed to the California Public Utilities Commission on January 25, 2011, by Governor Jerry Brown. The CPUC's energy efficiency, demand response and renewable energy policies are among the most aggressive in the nation. The CPUC in partnership with the California Energy Commission is actively involved in implementing the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) and providing incentives for solar power, distributed energy resources, and energy efficiency savings.
Workshop sessions included in the event will focus on social media, technological advances to powering your small business and the Affordable Care Act or “Obama Care”. Sponsors for the event include Wells Fargo, At&t, Kaiser Permanente, Food 4 Less/Rancho San Miguel, Entravision, San Joaquin County WorkNet, Telemundo and Walmart. Tickets for the event are $75 and can be purchased at the SJCHCC office or by phone.
