Stockton Civic Theatre Presents British Farce “Funny Money”

Event date: 4/27/2016 - 5/16/2016 Export event

Beginning Wednesday, April 27, and running through Sunday, May 15, 2016, Stockton Civic Theatre will present the hilarious British farce “Funny Money”. Written by Ray Cooney, the author of SCT’s 2014 smash hit “It Runs in the Family,” never has this master of farce been frenetically funnier!

Henry A. Perkins, a mild mannered C.P.A., accidently picks up the wrong briefcase―one full of money―assumes it is illicit cash and decides to keep it. Knowing that the former owner must have his briefcase, he rushes home to tell his confused wife they are moving to Barcelona! Their taxi cab driver and two police detectives arrive at the door, one of the latter thinking Henry is dead, as a man with bullet holes in his head and Henry’s briefcase were found in the Thames. Henry’s inept attempts to extricate himself from this impossible situation lead to increasingly hysterical situations.

Comedic actor Mike Moon carries the role of the harried Henry Perkins, with Lin Taylor playing his confused wife, Jean Perkins. Supporting cast includes Carmen Musch, Bill Yee, Vanessa Vargas, Grady Taylor, Rich Matheson and David Baldwin.

Past owner of Kiley’s Dinner Theatre and co-owner of Smiley’s Comedy Playhouse, Mike Kiley directs this show, having appeared in SCT’s “It Runs in the Family” and earning an Elly Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy. Assisting him will be Jeanine Michael Kiley as Assistant to the Director. Peter Foley has designed the set.

“Funny Money” features a $15 per seat preview on Wednesday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. A reception for opening night patrons catered by Mezzo will be held on Friday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m. Performances continue through Sunday, May 15, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $21 for seniors and $15 for students and children 12 and under.

The theatre is located at 2312 Rose Marie Lane, Stockton. For tickets, call the Box Office Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at (209) 473-2424, or go online at sctlivetheatre.com.
