Stockton-Con Attendance Soars to New Heights

Guests young and old, from far and wide, and with costumes ranging from t-shirts to the elaborate descended into the Stockton Arena on Sunday, August 4th for Stockton-Con, leading to the events largest attendance ever.

7,500 enthusiastic fans followed the event, in its second year, after outgrowing the Spanos Center on the campus at University of the Pacific.  With a year under its belt, Stockton-Con was able to garner an even larger crowd than they had in 2012.

Stockton-Con featured vendor booths selling everything from comic books and figurines, to artist displays, to celebrities like Richard Hatch from Battlestar Galactica and Linda Blair from “The Exorcist.”  Every part of the Stockton Arena had something to offer.  The main floor housed exhibitors and artists, the Fan Deck had celebrity guests and Cosplay, The Record Press Club welcomed a gaming area for Magic, the Gathering and HeroClix, and the Kings Room was set up for panel discussions on topics such as creating a costume to a lively costume contest. Even outside Stockton Arena was utilized, as Pro Wrestling Bushido put on a wrestling show on the east side of the building.

The event is a charitable fundraiser, with proceeds going to the United Way and St. Mary’s Dining Room. While event tickets were $10 the day of the event, a donation of a new or gently used clothing item to St Mary’s Dining Room allowed patrons to receive tickets at a discounted rate, and many took advantage of that offer and donated clothes.
