Stockton City Councilman Moses Zapien's Wilson Way Neighborhood Initiative joins the fight against illiteracy by launching an innovative project to improve neighborhood access to books through the use of Little Free Libraries. The Wilson Way Neighborhood Initiative refurbished old newspaper vending machines into Little Free Libraries and installing them conveniently in neighborhoods and commercial areas, allowing local residents to freely borrow books at their leisure.
The public was invited to help paint and install the Little Free Libraries on Saturday, May 24, at Harvest House, 1609 N. Wilson Way, Stockton. The old newspaper machines were donated by The Record Newspaper.
