The City of Stockton Municipal Utilities Department is seeking City water utility customers interested in volunteering to have their household water tested for lead and copper in conjunction with the City’s Chloramine Conversion. Participating households must meet the following requirements:
- Located within the City’s water utility service area, not in California Water Service area (www.stocktonca.gov/watermap);
- Homes built before 1993;
- Agree to accept delivery of water testing kits;
- Provide sample of tap water from inside your home; and
- Contact the Municipal Utilities Department to provide consent and name, address, and telephone number.
The Municipal Utilities Department is seeking households distributed across a broad geographic area throughout its service area. Volunteers will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis, and not all volunteers meeting the criteria will be selected to participate. Water samples are picked-up each month by Municipal Utilities Department employees.
Water samples are tested at a lab certified by the State of California. Results will be posted to the City’s website monthly. Volunteer names and addresses will not be listed on the website. Testing participants will only be notified of results if lead and/or copper levels exceed state thresholds.
To volunteer, please contact the Municipal Utilities Department at (209) 937-7353 or send an email to [email protected].
