Tigers Fall On Late Goal At Pepperdine

The Pacific women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 decision at Pepperdine on Friday, October 25. With the loss, the Tigers dropped to 2-10-3 on the season and 1-3-1 in West Coast Conference. Pepperdine improved to 8-5-2, 3-2-0 in WCC play.

"I was very pleased with our resiliency today," said Head Coach Keith Coleman. "We played down for well over half of the game, but we still had great possession of the ball. The team is focused and will be ready for Loyola Marymount on Sunday."

In a scoreless first half, each team had eight shots. Tiger goalkeeper Tashia Long was issued a red card at the 31:45 mark. With the Tigers playing 10 on 11 the rest of the way, with freshman Lena Perry stopping the penalty kick of Pepperdine's Kristen Rodriguez. Seniors Brittni Beeman and Maricela Padilla each had three shots for the Tigers in the first half.

The Waves tallied the first goal of the match in the second half, when Rylee Baisden scored from point blank range at 49:57. The Tigers evened the match at 1-1 when Beeman scored off a pass from freshman Alex Hussar at 54:55. Ally Holtz scored at the 85:23 mark, scoring off of a rebound from a save made by Perry against a shot by Michelle Pao.

Pepperdine outshot the Tigers 17-10, including a 9-2 advantage in the second half. Beeman had four shots in the game, while Padilla had three. Perry finished the contest with five saves.

The Tigers are next in action at Loyola Marymount on Sunday, October 27 at 1:00 p.m. The match will be televised by TheW.TV.
