United Cerebral Palsy Plans World CP Challenge

United Cerebral Palsy of San Joaquin County is joining forces for the World CP Challenge, an international fundraising event that takes place September 4th to October 2nd, in lieu of the Annual Box Lunch Days fundraiser. Your involvement in this event is critical to the ongoing support of local services.

The World CP Challenge challenges teams of 4 people to walk 10,000 steps a day, improving fitness while raising awareness and funds for your local UCP. The challenge isn’t just limited to walking; participants can run, swim, cycle, or even do yoga to meet their goals. Individuals are also encouraged to raise money from friends and family, with the incentive being a little friendly competition.

Teams and individuals can follow the teams posted on the World CP Challenge website www.worldcpchallenge.org , showing the success of the teams - in both steps taken and money raised. After the event, UCP will acknowledge the top teams through their Facebook page and quarterly newsletter and during the event through e-blasts. Those who aren’t able to participate but still wish to support UCP can donate at www.ucpsj.org or www.worldcpchallenge.org/sjc or via mail.

Money raised goes to support UCP and the crucial services they provide, reaching over 2,000 individuals each year. UCP has been advocating for children and adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities for over 50 years, and provides programs that support adult, early intervention, advocacy and education services. UCP is committed to helping its customers overcome obstacles by creating systems that are accessible, dependable, and promote independence.

UCP hopes to include as many people as possible in this challenge and values each and every participant. The World CP Challenge is the perfect way to get active while raising awareness for a great cause. So get active.
