YMCA of San Joaquin County elects 2013-2014 Board of Directors

The YMCA of San Joaquin County is pleased to announce that Jeff Gilbert of Verve Networks has been elected as President of the Board of Directors. Jeff assumes the leadership post from Scott Harper of Shore, McKinley, Conger & Scott, LLP. During Harper’s two terms as president, the Y grew by 28% and served a total of 16,000 kids.

Jeff Gilbert is the founder and partner at Verve Networks, an IT Services firm located in Downtown Stockton. He served on the YMCA Board of Directors for two years before accepting his current position as Board President. Jeff also sits on the Board of Directors of the Downtown Stockton Alliance. Born and raised in Stockton, Jeff brings with him over seven years of business experience and a desire to positively influence the lives of today’s youth. Jeff is married to his wife Christina and they have four kids who participate in Y programs. “For 156 years, the YMCA of San Joaquin County has been focusing on strengthening the foundation of community through programs we offer," said Jeff. "We want to continue to help more youth to reach their full potential and make this community a better place to live."

Also elected to the Board of Directors is Jennifer Torres-Siders of the University of the Pacific. Born and raised in Southern California, she came to Stockton almost 10 years ago to work as a reporter for The Record newspaper covering education, demographics and issues involving children and families. In 2011, Jennifer joined the University of the Pacific as Community Relations Manager, helping to coordinate the Beyond Our Gates community engagement initiative to improve early literacy throughout San Joaquin County. Jennifer is married to David Siders and they have two children. “As a mom of two little girls, I have a vested interest in the well-being of our community and its children – it’s a privilege to join organizations such as the Y in working to ensure we are laying the best possible foundation for every child’s success. I also feel very fortunate to live in a place where so many organizations and individuals are so passionate and so generous in their efforts to cultivate the strengths of local families. I believe there is great promise in our community, and I look forward to seeing that promise realized," said Jennifer.
