The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is postponing this week’s lane shift. The lane shift has been re-scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, 2015, after 4:00 a.m.

Motorists can expect a shift in traffic lanes on northbound Interstate 5 (I-5) from Pershing Avenue to Country Club Boulevard for construction activities. The lane shift is scheduled to be in place for approximately six months.

The #1 (left) and #2 (middle) lanes on northbound I-5 will be detoured onto the southbound traffic lanes of the interstate. Northbound motorists must stay in the #3 (right) lane for on and off-ramp access to Monte Diablo Avenue, Country Club Boulevard and Pershing Avenue.

The lane shift is part of the $46 million I-5 Rehabilitation Project. Crews are replacing the existing roadway, which will improve pavement life and provide a smoother driving surface.

Morning commuters should be alert to changes in the road the day of the shift. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and construction related issues.
