Tigers Drop Heartbreaker At Sacramento State
The Pacific women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision in double overtime at Sacramento State on Sunday, August 24 when Jennifer Lum scored with just 12 seconds left in the match. Pacific fell to 0-2-0 on the season, while Sacramento State improved to 1-1-0.
Lum scored on a loose ball from 10 yards out in front of the Tigers' goal at the 109:48 mark, hitting the crossbar with the shot and having it go into the goal.
Pacific was outshot 12-5 for the match, with the Tigers getting two shots in each half and one in the first overtime period. Freshman Lily Higashino had a shot on goal with six minutes left in the first half, but it was saved by Sacramento State goalkeeper Kimberly Mata. Freshman Ellie Paplexiou had a shot at goal in the 55th minute that went just over the goal. Junior Shayda Ansari had her shot saved in the 75th minute.
The Tigers outshot the Hornets 1-0 in the first overtime period, but the Hornets had a 4-0 shot advantage in the second overtime.
The Tigers are next in action with a home game against Cannisius on Friday, August 29. The match is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
