The Pacific women's soccer team opened the 2014 season on Friday, August 22nd with a 4-1 loss to Saint Joseph's at Knoles Soccer Field. Saint Joseph's opens the season 1-0-0.

Tiger sophomore Alex Hussar gave Pacific a 1-0 lead just under 12 minutes into the first half, scoring off of a well placed pass by freshman Taylor Ayers. The Hawks evened it up at 23:45, when Olivia McEachern scored on a header after a cross from Shannon Mulvey.

In the second half, Emily Gingrich tallied a hat-trick for the Hawks. In the 50th minute, she finished a corner kick with a header for a 3-1 lead. Just over 10 minutes later in the 61st minute, Gingrich finished following a restart from Mulvey. She capped the trifecta in the 68th minute, as Shannon Westhead's feed set her up for a one-on-one on the keeper and Gingrich slipped the ball inside the right post for a 4-1 advantage.

Jacqueline Kane recorded three saves in 72:20 of play in net for Pacific, while Melissa Ma made her Tiger debut. Ma didn't face a shot on frame in the final 17:20.

Pacific posted four second-half shots, forcing Saint Joseph's keeper Allison Ebling to make a pair of saves. Ebling finished with four saves in the match.

The Tigers (0-1-0) are back in action on Sunday, August 24th as they visit Sacramento State at 1 p.m.
