The Pacific Cross Country team kicks off its 2014 season at the University of San Francisco Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, August 30. The event represents an opportunity for the team to assess offseason training and get acclimated to the upcoming season.
The meet, hosted at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, is contested across a mixture of grass and dirt trails in the Speedway Meadow area of the park. The women's 5K route, begins at 9:30 am. In addition to San Francisco, the Tigers will face WCC competition in Santa Clara and Saint Mary's, along with familiar non-conference foes No. 3 Stanford, Cal, San Jose State and Cal State Northridge. The Tigers will be in box two, adjacent to the contingent from UC Santa Cruz and the Broncos of Santa Clara.
The Tigers finished fifth in last year's event, as Becky Grabow paced the squad with a time of 18:42.2
