Church Basement Ladies.

Event date: 1/4/2018 7:30 PM - 1/7/2018 9:30 PM Export event

What is there to do after the hustle and bustle of the Holidays? Well, you can come out to relax, laugh, and enjoy a musical of delightful homespun humor  entitled “Church Basement Ladies.” This show was inspired by the books of Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson, authors of the best-seller “GROWING UP LUTHERAN,”  The play was written by Jim Stowell and Jessica Zuehike with Music and Lyrics by Drew Jansen.

“Church Basement Ladies” is a wonderful small style musical with a BIG heart. Lots of “character traits” you will recognize in the 5 person cast that will keep your feet tapping, as you hear wonderful songs and stories of the antics that ensue with a group of ladies that prepare ALL of the food and decorations for ALL the events-large, small, somber, or happy that take place above their basement kitchen!

Performing in this show are Patricia Jannay, Wendi Sherman, Annette Lahman, and Vanessa Vargas with Duane Cissna portraying Pastor Gunderson. The story takes place at the East Cornicopia Lutheran Church of the Prairie in rural Cornucopia, Minnesota. Sometimes the surroundings make be stark and cold, but the sage wisdom, heartfelt stories, and the true blessings of friendship will always keep you warm from the heart out and a smile on your face.

Christina Chavez Nelson, well- known for her amazing acting skills and memorable characters from Stockton Civic Theatre, S.J. Delta College, Kiley’s Dinner Theatre, and Community Theatre of Linden is donning the robes of Director for this production. June Hook Spencer is serving as Musical Director, and Robert Krantz from Hutching Street Square in Lodi is the Technical Director and Set Designer. It all promises to be the perfect anecdote for any Holiday blues we may be feeling. Come out and start the New Year right!!
